MESSAGE FROM THE VENTURA COLLEGE PRESIDENT

Thursday, November 7, 2024

Ventura College Students,

We understand that recent fires, power outages and poor air quality have impacted many of you. After carefully assessing conditions at both our Ventura Campus and the East Campus, and closely monitoring updates from CalFire, local authorities, and all school districts in our service area, we have decided to close both campuses through the weekend. This closure will affect all classes, including online and hybrid courses, as well as events and campus operations.

We expect to resume normal operations on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Should there be any significant changes impacting this plan, we will provide further updates via email and text.

Please note that the following weekend events have been canceled or rescheduled:

  • Performing Arts event – To be rescheduled
  • CSU Long Beach in-person classes – Moved online
  • Learning Center and Library weekend hours – Canceled
  • The Marketplace – Closed on Saturday but will reopen on Sunday
  • On campus Athletics practices and events – Rescheduled in coordination with the coaches

We recognize that these disruptions can be challenging. Your safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we appreciate your patience and resilience. Please take care and stay informed as we navigate this situation together.

Stay safe and thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Dr. Claudia Lourido-Habib

Ventura College President
